The traditional rubber industry is currently dominated by fossil-based materials and face challenges with high CO2 emissions and pollution. Reselo facilitates its evolution.
Today, birch bark is an abundant residue stream from the forestry industry, but its usage history is fascinating and goes back thousands of years.
We use our technology to create value
and give new life to a material that would otherwise go to waste.
Throughout the last 5 years, we have brought the forest into the lab and the material out on the market.
Where others fear competition, we
see potential for synergies.
We can help you implement our material
into your products. Let’s start today!

Reselo was born at KTH, a globally top-ranked technical university, with the ambition to generate high-performing biomaterials that help us transform today’s fossil-dependent society into a sustainable bioeconomy.

After years of research our birch bark based rubber integrates into current rubber production processes, and can be easily applied in shoe soles. We are currently working with global shoe-brands and are always open to new partnerships.

Rubbers
Traditional synthetic and natural rubber
Rubber is flexible and durable, found in soles, tires, car parts and everyday gadgets.

The current rubber market

While rubber is an indispensable material, the global rubber industry is currently responsible for increasing fossil-fuel dependency, high CO2 emissions, toxic waste and deforestation. Since fashion is among the most polluting industries, we began applying our material to shoe soles to drive change. We're also developing rubber for tires and automotive, where global consumption is highest.

Our patented material made from 100% birch bark

BIRCH IS AT OUR CORE.

Birch trees have been around for long – but we are the first company in the world to make use of the substance suberin from birch bark, and transform it into our patented Reselo Rubber, a 100% biobased elastomer that directly integrates with existing rubber processes.

PARTNERSHIPS AND COLLABORATIONS

As our material is 100% birch bark based - our most important collaboration is that with nature. However, we work in an ecosystem of collaborators where innovation, industry and consumers are equally important. Below is a list of some of those who believe in our material have and made our journey possible.

Q&A

How is Reselo Rubber sustainable?

In a world where nothing is infinite, we need to think about how we best make use of everything we extract from earth. Renewable resources are always preferred over fossil-based from a sustainability perspective, but even when we cut down a tree it takes many years for the next one to grow back. Therefore, we wanted to make use of biproducts from the forest industry that today has little value on the market. Birch bark that is otherwise simply burned as fuel, finds new value as Reselo Rubber. This way, nothing goes to waste.
